Long time no blog!

It's been a while since I got round to writing my blog, as it has been very busy recently! I went to see the blue-monki on Thursday, and we went in search of Guinness hats! The hunt was plentiful and we were able to acquire many, many Guinness hats, badges and various advertising things that the very nice land lady at the pub we went to, gave to us! Sadly, not much Guinness was consumed, as Alice and I arrived later than expected. We didn't realise that the Cheltnam gold cup was on, and got caught in the nightmarish train situation that ensued!

Friday featured a trip to an interactive science museum, that was a lot of fun!! I found out what it was like to be inside the womb, felt a baby kicking, (not me from inside), took part in a virtual volley ball game, (Blue-Monki and I played our girlfriends, and won) and much more!

Alice and I traveled back on the Saturday. Planning a quiet night, we went in search of food. To our surprise, Alice and I discovered that our favorite cafe was open past its usual bed time, and went inside. The owner, (a former Sicilian fisherman) had decided to start doing Italian meals in the evening. It was still at cafe prices, but it was absolutely gorgeous. We were the only people in the entire place, and after the meal, we were allowed to sit on a big plush sofa and drink coffee whilst we digested!

On the way back from our "quiet night" we heard jazz coming from one of the local bars. Being nosey, we went inside there too, and spent the rest of the evening listening to an old-fashioned jazz sextet!

Sunday, meant a visit to the parents, and Monday brought with it the looming shadow of work!

But, the whole weekend was a lot of fun. Thanks the Blue-Monki and his girlfriend for entertaining us! (if you to the Blue-Monki website, you'll find an image of the four triumphant Guinness drinkers, on their return from their mission!)

Long Day

Just pulled a 12 hour day. I was on track for a happy 8 hour session, when I had an emergency task sprung upon me from on high.

It is still not done, and I now need to log in remotely and continue from the safety of my own home. Hopefully a beer will aid my concentration!

This log wouldn't be complete without mentioning my truly wonderful girlfriend who bought me beer, ran me a bath and is currently cooking my tea. THANK YOU ALICE!!

Light at the end of the tunnel

Since Christmas I've moved into a new flat with my wonderful Alice, (who has recently been complaining about her lack of mention on the website), got to know a new town and come dangerously close to entering the real world! But fear not, in order to maintain a prescriptive level of thickness on those rose-tinted glasses, I am planning a trip to see the Blue-Monki and his lovely* girlfriend.

This is part of a tradition, (for all of two years, but hopefully many more) that St Paddy's day be celebrated by the acquisition of Guinness hats and other assorted freebies, via the consumption of large amounts of black liquid.

In other news, I had my first German lesson for two weeks today, and found the old language gears to be a little bit rusty! Still, I'm working on it, and you may start seeing a little German creeping into my posts, (in the "language" way, not as in a short gentleman from Germany.)

BTW: Apologies to anyone using a Firefox / Konquerer based browser at the moment. I fixed various bugs on my website, so that it would work for IE, sadly, this introduced problems for the other browsers, which I didn't pick up because I didn't update the pages in Firefox and just saw the working, cached ones! I'll work on it at some point in the next couple of weeks. No apologies to people using the Mac browser... You deserve everything that you get :)

*lovely - euphemism for very nice girl, who's only flaw is a dubious taste in men :)

Red Nose Day Has Come and Gone

Stayed in yesterday and watched Red Nose day with two friends who I've known since school! Myself and Chris played a very mature game throughout the proceedings which revolved around flicking the tops of beer bottles into eachother's pints. :)

This year's Red Nose Day show was really good, and was made even better by Edith winning the Fame Academy thing!

Today, Alice and I were introduced to the wonderful world of pancakes, with bacon and maple syrup by Chris. They were very yummy!

In fact, I may start publishing recipes that I cook on to the website, and perhaps give people the option of commenting on them and maybe suggesting improvements or alternative ingredients. Hopefully the Blue-Monki and my sister will be useful sources of feedback! If anyone thinks that this is a good idea, feel free to comment!

...try, try again!

After an unsuccessful attempt at writing to my blog via email, I'm back to the website!

I obviously don't have much of interest to say, as I've just spent all night fixing my webpage! Though I did take some time off to make sure that Edith got through to the final of the Red Nose Day Fame Acadamy!

But now it is time for bed, so I be fully rested for Red Nose Day. So far I have donated a tin of beans to a colleague, who will be spending his lunch break at work sitting in a bath of beans to raise some cash for Red Nose Day, and I'll be part of the Mighty Software Department's tug-of-war team!!

Before I go, it's worth noting that John is both an evil, evil man, (for mocking my website, even though it is very poor) and a wonderful person, (for helping me get the website into a workable fashion!)
