Time For Change!

This weekend I went to see a friend from university who has recently become engaged to his girlfriend, (congrats Kieran and Cathryn!) I cooked dinner, and found a really nice recipe, (courtesy of Mr Garry Rhodes :) ) which was very tasty, but incredibly bad for you. During the evening we discussed fitness and diet, and we had a go on some magic scales that provide you with an estimate of your BMI. I was predictably, very unhealthy!

So - its time to look to my lifestyle and attempt to put right all of the wrongs that I have done to my poor body! No, this isn't going to involve dawn runs and eating like a rabbit - I love food too much. Instead I'm going for a more realistic option! I have already been able to take advantage of my naturally competitive nature, by playing squash once a week against a work colleague, so now it is time to play to one of my other strengths - my love of cooking!

So people, come to my aid! Recipes that TASTE GOOD but don't pile on the pounds. It's hard work if you're not some rabbit-food munching hippy! I'm willing to entertain vegetarian, (maybe even vegan) suggestions, but things involving the bodies of innocent animals would also be gratefully received :)

My key goal is to find a repertoire of lunches that can be made the night before, (I'm REALLY not a morning person) and taken in to work, thus avoiding a canteen that forces you to eat chips by cooking rice and other types of potato, so badly, that heart disease looks like a promising second choice.

The more exotic the better, though lets be realistic about budget - I don't care if phoenix eggs are good for you, I don't want to be fit and poor! I'll try to post the best and most successful recipes on the site, along with some less good for you options, that just taste damn good!

As a general rule, suggestions that include the word "salad" will be laughed at and rejected, but I can imagine extenuating circumstances.
