Celebrations!

Well, it's been a while since my last post, but I've been working hard on my PhD applications. I have spent a few long months trying to find a PhD which met the three most important criteria:
a) Something that I could see myself spending three years looking at without going crazy
b) Something which had funding
c) The university wanted me :)

I am happy to announce that I have been asked to study a PhD at the University of Nottingham in Robotics and Heuristics!

The project looks REALLY interesting and I'm really excited about the whole thing!

There is still the little matter of making sure that all of my paper work is in order, (apparently one of my references got lost in the post!) But hopefully I shall be up and about in Nottingham by January!

Alice and her family bought a bottle of champagne for Friday night, which I thoroughly enjoyed :)

I also got a chance to celebrate on Saturday night when I went to a wedding, (congrats Matt and Lianne!) It was a really nice event and it looked as though both the bride and groom had a really nice day.

This marks yet another occurrence of me being able to cross the threshold of a church without igniting. :D

Anyway - I'm off to bed to recover from a VERY long, (but most enjoyable) weekend.

Oh BTW - I went to see Vin Garbutt on Thursday - even if you think that folk music isn't your thing - if you go with an open mind (and perhaps as importantly, a sense of humor!), you'll have a thoroughly good night. Vin is almost as enjoyable to hear talking as he is singing, so check out the gig list HERE and find out when he's playing near you. Maybe we can make that album of his a Christmas hit.....
